If you have Georgia worker's compensation case, you are eligible to receive weekly income benefits, called temporary total disability benefits, if you have been out of work for seven days or more. Although payment is not due until 21 days after you injury, you should receive all the past due benefits since the date of your injury. If you return to work, you will be eligible for a modified type of weekly income benefits. These benefits are often referred to as temporary partial disability benefits. If you have missed work due to your on the job injury, you should receive two-thirds of the difference between what you made after being hurt compared to what you made prior to the injury, up to the statutory maximum.

In most cases, you are obligated to treat with the company doctor only if a Panel of Physicians was properly posted at work. Unfortunately, pain and suffering is not a component of the workers' compensation system in Georgia. However, at a certain point after you are injured, you should reach maximum medical improvement. At this point, a permanent partial disability rating can be assigned and compensation can be paid to you for the degree of your disability.
